The chrome operations of the Zimbabwe Mining and Smelting Company (ZIMASCO) are used to illustrate the concepts of optimising the holistic mass balance performance. Linear and Mixed Integer Programming techniques deliver the required functionality and performance levels enabling the execution of complex techno-economic planning scenarios and decision support analyses within the holistic mass balance.
